Shared note

She met Oakley while his Regiment was in Bodmin recruiting. She became engaged to him, but when his Regiment went back to India she stayed behind because her mother's health was very poor. After the tragedies in India, where both her husband and young daughter died, she returned to Bodmin (near her father) for two years before moving to Truro, south west of Bodmin. Emma Guy paints her as an exceptional person.
